Hi,
I have the Microsoft Office XP Professional update disk. When I bought my computer 3 years ago it had ME already installed. I guess what I am getting at is I only have the system recovery disks for ME. So would running the system recovery disks be like doing a clean install or reformat? Would I then put my XP disk in after the clean install?
I think I have everything I need backed up on CD's. Will I loose my sound card during this process because I don't have a disk to reinstall?
Any other tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance...

One more question I forgot to ask... I have a HP Pavillion 7950 and these are the specs,
1.2 GHz AMD Athlon
128 MB
As you can see I only have 128MB is this enough to run XP or do I need to get more. If I get more do I just add another 128MB or can I add a 256MB along with my original 128MB. Would you suggest that I add the memory before or after the upgrade to XP? One more thing is how hard is it to add memory or am I better off taking it in to have it installed? SORRY if this is under the wrong topic.
Thanks again...

Hi,
I have the Microsoft Office XP Professional update disk. When I bought my computer 3 years ago it had ME already installed.
Microsoft Office XP Professional is not an operating system. However if it is supposed to be Microsof XP Professional, you need more ram, 256 will work but IMO, you really need 512. Ram is easy to install so there is nothing to worry about. You should be able to do it without any problems.

The disk that I ordered was off of Microsoft.com it was a special offer through work. I just needed to add Word, Excel, Power Point and Access for school.
The package I recieved contains 2 disks one says it is a Media Disk and the other disk just says Version 2002. The container is Labeled Microsoft Office XP Professional and includes 5 Microsoft Office XP Programs: Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and Access.
Will I still need to get the 512MB for my computer to run these?
Thanks again in advance for all your help.

The more ram the better - I still recommend 512 megs for the full Office XP Pro. Office XP uses alot of resources and you will be better off with more ram - especailly since you have ME for an operating system.
