How do I disable, remove or bypass the "Welcome to Windows user name and password to log on to Windows" that appears as the computer starts?

Howdy:

Right click on the Network Neighborhood (could be My Networks) icon on your desktop and select "Properties..

Now, change the logon from "Client for Microsoft Networks" to "Windows Logon".. Apply and okay out.. reboot..

You may get the logon screen once more.. just click OKAY.. DO NOT just cancel or close the logon screen..

Thanks for that, Murray

I've been wondering for ages now, how to get rid of that annoying box at start-up. Never had it until I went from dial-up to cable BB. Then it suddenly appeared! Don't know what the engineer did wrong, but it's gone now. Cheers :D

Thank you Murray, however I could not locate the Network Neighborhood or My Networks icons anywhere on my computer. I did go to the control panel. the only thing I could find was the Network. I double clicked and did find Microsoft Family Logon and followed the steps by changing it to Windows Logon. I applied and okayed out to reboot. When the logon screen appeared I cliked Okay, however the message I receive is please enter password. when it does appear it has DAD typed in the user name. I tryed it again and again with negative results. I still need help!

No problem..

Do a search for *.pwl files on your system.. delete all found..

Now, reboot.. if the logon screen comes up, just press OKAY again..

Murry S., thank you for your quick reply and solution to my problem. It's nice to see my computer start without the user name and password window. It also loads a bit faster.

Thank again,
