I've been able to watch some of the SkySports programs, tonight I watched a bit of the Sports news, and was quite shocked to see such small turn outs at the UK soccer games, I mean, the Leeds United game today, had a fan turn out of not much over 6,000, and many other games reported, showed that fans were a lot less than when I remember from when living over the duck pond, I used to go to see Forest, and they had crowds of around 32,000 +!
On a good note, having not much access to any cricket (yeah I know there's websites, but it's not the same as hearing stuff on the TV), it's good to see that England beat Sri Lanka. :)

Lately, Leeds have had severe financial problems and nearly folded. They were forced to sell on their best/most valuable players.
Forest are in the lower divisions after their halcyon days under Clough.
Arsenal had a crowd of 37 000 for todays game and expect 40K+ when it's the local derby game, Chelsea v Spurs on Sunday. Liverpool play Man U on Monday, expect the same figures.
These are bread and butter games. Attendances boom for Champions League games and the F.A. Cup.

I must have caught the news quite late, cos I never heard mention of any top teams, so never got to see their attendancies. :(

Actually the bigger teams usually have sell-outs, whether it be season tickets, corporate or paying fans.
Man Utd get 67,000 for most games (they sell 67,000 tickets and sell out the home support. it's upto corporate & visiting fans to purchase or show up).
Same with Newcastle and Liverpool.
Middlesbrough is a smaller team, but get something like 25,000+ season ticket holders
Unfortunately, the smaller teams cannot compete and with the prices they do not get the crowds.

Do they still have the same kinda violence over there, like they did back in the 70's/80's?
Not long after moving over here (US), we did go and see a Red Sox game at Fenway Park, we was seated pretty close to what is known as Pesky's (sp) Pole, the tickets back then cost (if I remember correctly) something like $10. I dread to think what they'd cost now, and how much it'd cost to go see the New England Patriots at home, or the Celtics/Boston Bruins (if there wasn't an ice Hockey lockout that's prolly gonna mean no ice hockey season this year). :(
