Windows 98 Networking

I got a linksys wireless B 802.11b router (http://www.linksys.com/products/product.asp?grid=33&scid=35&prid=544). If my computer with windows 98 does not have a network card at the moment, which is the best way to hook up to the router?

I think wirelessly will not be super easy because i know that linksys' USB wireless adapter for that router doesn't support windows 98, but i'm not sure about the rest of their products.

What's my options?

It does have a 4 port switch inbuilt so you could simply use a cat5 cable to connect the 98 PC.

The problem is that you need a card that supports Windows 98 First Edititon.
That may be hard to find.

I'm not sure many do because SE added extra features to the OS.

And what's the difference between CAT5 and CAT6 cables? which should i use?

sorry, misread your post.

Any Network Card should be fine for 98.
The Linksys one will be ok.
Use Cat5 Straight-Through/Patch cable. (not Crossover)


The problem would be with finding a Wireless Network Card for 98. :)
