Is Netbeui needed for my two computers to communicate over my LAN?

Mithrillhall,
Sorry about the delay in getting to you I have just been finishing off the redesign of the site.....
What protocols do you have installed presently on your networked PC's, and how many PC's do you have networked ? Do you have them networked for internet sharing ?
No you don't HAVE to have netbeui installed in some networking scenarios.

Thanks for the reply. I have 2 computers networked together. The Host computer has a NIC and a modem, the remote computer has just a NIC.
I was trying to get my ICS working but was having problems which I think I managed to figure. It turned out to be my cross-over cable that I swapped with my friend. I gave him my 50' and he gave me his 6'. Well as it turned out, his 6' was bad.
I eventually got my cable back and the two computers seem to stay networked fine now. I also gave up on ICS since it was not allowing me to do what I wanted to do. I installed Sygate 4.0 and it works great.
Thanks again for responding....
