My Windows 2000 Server is doing something I've never seen before; Every 45 to 60 minutes none of my users can connect to thier mapped drives. Of course when this happens thier XP machines pretty much lock up on them and I get a storm of angry users coming down on me.
It seems like the server connections begin slowing way down just before the disconnect occurs then it just drops them. When this happens and the user clicks on the mapped drive it takes a while but eventually returns this error:
An error occurred while reconnecting H: to \\File-server\File-share
Microsoft Windows Network: The local device name is already in use.
This connection has not been restored.
The wierd thing about it is that if the users reboot everything is fine OR if I reboot the server everything is fine...until 45 minutes to an hour later when it happens again!!
I have replaced the Network Adapter in the server but I'm not sure where else to go with this one.
Anybody got any suggestions??
Thanks!
Randy
