HELP HELP!! Device Drivers Not Found

Ok well, been trying to wipe windows off IBM and reinstall.

Kept getting FAT cluster errors and it kept saying"compression device installed on this computer can not install windows". This I figured to be ZIP drive someone put into the tower.

So I went inside the tower and diconnected the ZIP drive (the cable and the power supply). I connected the #5 power supply to the CD rom drive and the drive cable that connects to the IDE Primary. (I notice that there is a sceond drive cable that comes for the same IDE Primary slot and connects to the floppy drive).

So pluged it back in and prayed and begged the thing to work now I get:

1) The following erroes were detected when system was started

1762 configuration change has occured

select on of the following

Continue with setup

Exit the setup

So I continue with setup and then it says:

2) No device drivers were found

Device Driver Not Found 'OEMCD001'

No valid CD Rom Device

Windows 98 setup files were not found

A:\>

I have tried using my wins 98 boot disk and my wins CD I can not get past all the problems.

All I want to do is wipe it and start again.

It seems that windows is still somewhat installed on the HD.

I have even tried a DBAN boot and nuke out it says not readable or something like that.

QUESTION:

1) How can I install a CD driver when wins won't even boot??

2) What's a 1762 config and how do I fix it

3) Do I need to reconfig the system?

4) What do I out after the A:\> ?

PS: All this started when I tried to renstall wins 98. I should also mention that this computer has a sony CD/RW.

The cable that connects the floppy drive is different to the IDE cable that connects CD-Rom drive. Click Here (http://www.pcguide.com/ref/fdd/conf_Cable.htm)

Make sure that you have the correct cables and that they are connected the right way. Click Here (http://www.pcguide.com/proc/config/cd-c.html)

How many CD-Rom/CD-RW drives do you have ?. If you have two you can connect them to the same IDE ribbon cable.

Now that you have disconnected the Zip drive you will have to configure the
Bios to boot from the CD-Rom drive on Startup.

I should have pointed out that the error message 1762 configuration change has occurred is an IBM number.

Check you User's manual or go the IBM website. You will need the model number of your computer.
