56 K modem issues

Recently there was a need for a 56K connection, in a machine that had only had a LAN connection before.

I installed 1 modem and had issues, so I uninstalled it and installed a different modem and am having the exact same problem.

When I go to connect via dial-up, I get an error that it could not connect due to a hardware failure.

In the device manager, it is showing a modem installed and that it is working properly and is enabled.

ANy ideas?

try updating the bios or downloading any new driver updates that the manufactuer of your modem may have out.
