I have a Dell Inspiron 8000 laptop that I have Win XP on. I want to install the XP OS on my Dell XPS T-600 (with 512mb memory) Desktop system that now has Win 98SE. When I attempt to install the XP CD bootable CD it will not respond most of the time. When it does respond and I attempt to install the XP OS the system freezes up. Can you help?

Have you run the compatibility program on the Win 98 pc?

If your XP disk came with your original computer it may not work. If you have a generic copy it should.
Also sometimes with XP it can take a couple or three tries to install.

XP cd dat came from ur laptop will not work for ur Desktop, simply because the CD is bios locked on ur dell laptop.
