Hello,
I did a quick search for any post showing any problems with using ICS with a PPPoE DSL connection. Did not find anything. So that brings me to my questions.
Does anyone use the ICS on a PPPoE conection?
Did or does it have any issues making this connection?
Reason I am asking is that (incase you didn't already know) Windows XP has a major problem with sharing a PPPoE connection. I have my home network set up for a host computer configuration and would prefer to keep it that way. Also if I put a DSL router in then that would mean each computer would have to be assigned a IP from my DSL service and they would charge me for each computer. :O Yeah like I have that kind of money.
I have an old computer that is not really used for much and currently has Win 98. Kind of figured it would make a decent host computer if nothing else and then got me curious if 98 has any problems that would cause me to be sitting in the same boat I am in now.
OH YEAH, I did get XP to work using the Analog X Proxy server on the XP host, but I have found that Proxy doesn't work well with some of my internet apps. Can't seem to win for losing all the time :(
Next thought is to go with a nix OS for my host, but that would mean learning nix and I am not sure I have the time nor the patience to learn it right now.
