View Full Version : Laptop and internet connection question ... help

Hello - I just bought a new HP Pavillion zt3000, it works great with my wireless router and land line at home, but when I plug into another land line AWAY from home it will not go online, says "failed no connectivity" I disabled the firewall thinking that my be causing conflict, but still doesn't work.
Any ideas on what this means or how to fix it?
I appreciate any help, and please, be easy. I 'm not computer literate :(
of course, this would have to be my first post :wave:

what type of internet access are you trying to access away from home.

Ok, heres the scoop....
the computer is my bf's... he installs the modems for the cable company. We got the computer because he runs into so many customers who computers are slow or viruses and such that he can just hook the modem line into the laptop, verify it works and go.... yet the computer will not go online away from home. We tried disabling the firewall and that still did not help.
We have talked directly with the IT director at the cable company and with hp themselves... and still can't figure the problem... I still think it has to be something simple... xx fingers crossed.
