Why is it, that if someone posts a ummmmmm........post, the next post has the whole previous post "Quoted" in their post?

I mean, I can understand if there are several posts in one thread, and the poster is replying to a post that's further up the post thread. Or if replying to the previous post, there's a specific part of that post you wish to reply to, which may justify adding that text as a Quote. But to keep adding the previous post as a Quote in one's post, what is the point of doing this? :)

Do you have an example?

I do it alot of times because when I edit, I usually accidently edit out part of the tag not noticing until after submitting and have to edit the post to replace the tag, thus, at times it is just easier to leave the whole quote.

It's the people who use the "reply w/quote" button instead of the reply button:

Search for your problem - we may have already answered it for someone else - See a classic example here!.
Remember that we are all here to learn so please post back and tell us if it's working (or not) so the next person can search and find their answer.

I've never done it. Seems ridiculous to me.

Perhaps the reason is that the "Quote" Button is and on the right hand side of the page while the "Reply" Button is on the left and lower down???? ;) BF

lufbra

But there is also a "reply" button on the right, as Smurf pointed out. :)

Hi

I don't see a reply button on the right. I see what BF has explained.

Oyes

The reply to the Quote
is the qoute from the reply before the first reply from origiuinal quote telling the second reply that the first quote was infact the first quote and the original reply was infact the second quote so wqe have the quote to the replay back to the quote in the first but not the second...

get my quote

I have a quote then a reply button on the right, and reply on the left. Too many replies with just one quote. It is a wonder there are so many quotes.

lufbra

The reply button a small button, it looks like a piece of paper with a pencil, the same image as in the quote button, but with no text added, it's a square button. :)

Ahh, you mean the Quick Reply button ;)

That's slightly different as it activates the Quick Reply box. It does not automatically take you to the Post Reply page, although you can use the Go Advanced button to get there.
