Hi,
My C: drive has accidently had too much deleted from it and in return windows would no longer start.
I have the original disks and floppies including boot disk.
When booting up with the floppy I get the following on screen:
Starting Windows 95
A:\>mode con cp prepare = ((850) ega .cpi)
MODE prepare code page function completed
A:\>mode con cp select = 850
MODE select code page function completed
A:\> keyb uk, , keyboard.sys
A:\>
A:\>
Does anyone know where to go from here? I am afraid that age has taken it's toll on the grey cells!
Any ideas will be grately appreciated...

Hi WC-
I guess that would depend on what you want to do, attempt to repair the current installation, or format and start fresh. Since you say you have the installation disks, you can choose either - it depends on whether there is data on your current installation you cannot afford to lose.
DIR your C drive to see what is on it. C: then hit Enter DIR then hit enter

Cheers for that.
So if I format C: and then startup from the cd that should force a re-install?
Forgive me for being a little naive, computers never have been my strongest point!

First, check your C drive to see what is on it. Perform the line from my previous post, and report back with results. Want to see what is on your C drive, if anything.
Windows 95 CD is not bootable. You'll need to start the system with a startup disk, preferably a Win98 bootdisk from www.bootdisk.com if you don't have one already, and then run the Setup program from command prompt if you are using a Windows 95 CD ROM installation disk. Windows 98 bootdisks have built in CD ROM support, Win95 bootdisks do not. This makes for an easier clean install.
Can you tell us what disks you have, please? Are they manufacturer's CD ROM disks, MS Windows 95 installation CD ROM, installation floppies? Also, a bit more info on your computer - manufacturer and model, HD size, RAM amount might be helpful.

Did you have a point to make in this post? You need Dos disk 1 and boot your computer. It should contain fdisk, format.
But you'll need a cdrom driver disk next.
I'm still hanging on.But you don't seem to be.
