what does the 3rd LED on the ethernet card mean?

Sorry cant he;lp with out knowing what make and model of card however
light 1 = 10/100 Amber or Green
light 2 = link connection
light 3 = data collison
what ever... but with our knowing the make and model we cant help... but if it working and running correctly what the hell...
