Sound skips

I am having trouble with my media players pausing or skipping during playback. This occurs while streaming music, or while playing back music in my media library. I have these problems with Windows Media Player 9 and Real Player. It also happens with Jukebox by Musicmatch. Dell support has been no help. I didn't use to have this problem. Now I cannot figure it out. Any ideas what could have happened and how I can fix this?

I have a Dell Dimension 2400, Intel Pentium 4 with 2.5 Ghz processor, 512 MB RAM, 74.5 GB hard drive with 61.89 % free space, and a Soundmax Inegrated Digital Audio Card. Maybe these specs will help.

Thank you,
Rhino

may not have enough resources. Tell about the computer, cpu, ram, harddrive size/space available.
