Hi guys,

I've got a Netgear WAG311 802.11a/g Wireless PCI Adapter router thingymebob, connected to 2Mb broadband. I use it for a wirless connection in my home.

It used to work fine, but since SP2 it's been working real slow.

I can connect to the router with 'excellent connection', and when I check exactly how fast it is, I get speeds of bewteen 36Mbps - 54 Mbps. So I know that my connection to the router is fine.

However.... and this is the problem.... my internet connection works so slowly, it's almost unbearable. I tested my download speed the other day and it was only 100Kbps! that's pathetic seeing as i have 2Mps broadband.

can anyone help me sort this out? i know nothing about tcp/ip etc, so a walkthrough on how to best check through the settings would be great!

Hi Oogy
First of all how much was your previous speed?
and don't forget you will not get 2MB speed, you should be downloading at an average of 190kbs but it varies from day to day and from hour to hour one min it is very quick and some other times it is rather slow, but if you have any concerns, i mean if it's like this all the time you need to check with your ISP. sometimes you don't get the full signal which makes your connection drop a little.

But as far as the router is concerned i doubt very much that it could be the problem.

But give us some more information and if you could describe to us how did you install it and howmany pc's you have in running (plugged) into that router.
try this to test your connection
