I have a 40 gig harddrive from work, and was wanting to add it onto my win98 machine at home. After which I would of course format it to accept the new filing system.
Trouble is... I can't get it to registar in the "My Computer" window to work with it.

Near as I can tell...it is listed under the Devices tab in the control panel, and found in the "Setup" of the motherboard as secondary slave.

What am I missing here, do I need to somehow "blank" it before startup?

If you need hardware info I'll be glad to provide it. Just have to pull it back out to get it. But I know it was formatted in a win2k system, and only thing I changed were the jumper settings to force it to read as a 32 gig drive.

You'd be better off using the HDD Manufacturers disk utilities to partition and format the drive.

Or you could try Partition Magic, BootIt NG or http://www.ultimatebootcd.com
