Exclamation IE Web Sites Appear Blank

Hello,

I have run into avery strange isue on 2 seperate PC's running Windows XP.

Internet Explorer suddenly began dispalying certain web pages as blank pages. On one "windowsupdate.microsoft.com" and several other unrelated pages will not load, but other sites such as "www.foxnews.com" load completely normally. On the first laptop the problem disappeared completely after a reboot but I had done nothing that seemed related to fix the issue beyond purging out the TEMP folder.

The second PC was infected with "TROJ_BAGLE.AL" and "TROJ_MTGLIEDR.BN" and the problem appeared AFTER the viruses were removed!

First laptop has Norton AV 2003 installed and also SP2. Second PC has Trend Micro and NO SP2 (did previously have Norton AV 2003). Swept both for Adware using Ad-Aware and HiJack This utility and they appear clean.

Any thoughts? This is something new.

Welcome

Check your security settings and if you have Java enabled.

You could also try a repair of IE

Thumbs up Solution Found

Further digging revealed the following symptoms on my XP PC:

System Restore opens to a blank page.
Users control panel opens blank.
Random web sites open blank.

found the solution in the following MS KB article:

http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;831430

Re-register two .dll files and problem is gone. Possibly related to the uninstall/reinstall of Norton 2003?
