Can a mac wireless "airport" access point work with a windows XP computer using a Netgear or Linksys wirelss adapter? The airport ac is plugged into the dsl phone line and I really would like to make one system rather than two.

I also have the same problem, Going to college for Multimedia Design i got a laptop with tuition payments. I got the powerbook G4 and its not picking up on our home wireless, yet i use the wireless at school every day. Anyone know how to set it up so it can detect my home wireless router? Linksys Wireless router as well. on Cable connection though

:fyi:
I tried SO much crap and still canmt figure it out D: :upset:

hrjjohn,

It's probably not working because Apple Airport Base Stations do not have ADSL modems only 56K (dial up) modems.

MoOosh,

you need to create a new location for home and setup connections from there.

Jim.

HUH?

From Apple.
This AirPort Extreme Base Station model includes a 56K V.90 modem for dialup connections in addition to a 10/100BASE-T RJ-45 Ethernet WAN port for Internet access via DSL or cable modems and a 10/100BASE-T RJ-45 Ethernet LAN port for connecting computers and printers.

Airport Base stations have all standard connections. Not sure where you got the impression they are only for dial up users Jim, but that's incorrect.

Sorry I can't help with the PC/Mac things. I don't use PCs at all.

Thanks for that Buzz, I just didn't see that when I looked, I knew that historicaly they never had adsl modems.
Well, There is no reason why the PC should'nt work with the base station as long as the Airport B/S is broadcasting it's ssid then the PC should pick it up.

If you have SP2 installed then there is a new wizard for setting up wireless networks.
If you get the "Two little Screens" Icon in the system tray but it is "red crossed" then right click on the icon click on propertiies and/or advanced and you might find it's stopped because it's an insecure network and you can click the checkbox that says "connect anyway" or words to that effect.

Sorry for the incorrect reply.
Respectfully.
Jim.
