Bet you've never seen this Entourage 2001 / Hotmail problem
Here is my problem. I am using Mac OS 9.2 with Entourage 2001 updated to v 9.04 recently. Up until September 23rd I was able to download my Hotmail to my Entourage 2001. On the 24th I tried to download my email using the normal send/receive and received an error 1501 and the HTTP error. The server does not support this request. I have tried everything from clearing the cache in Entourage which removed all the folders and email from my Entourage Hotmail folder to updating Entourage with the 9.04 updater. I still get the same error when I try and download folders/email from my Hotmail Plus ($19.99/yr account) which currently has about 32 MB of data in it. Here is were the problem gets interesting: I am able to get my folders and emails to download into Outlook Express on a Windows based compute. I am able to get Hotmail to download folders and emails from a normal Hotmail account (not my Plus Account) to my Entourage 2001. I am unable to get Hotmail to dowload my folder and email to another MAc running OSX and Entourage X. My conclusion is that somehow, maybe the result of a Hotmail software update or server change that my account has been corrupted with regard to inaction with Entourage on MAC's. Is that possible? I cannot find any documentation on Error 1501 or anyone else that has this problem. I have sent Hotmail an email with this problem but have little faith that they will respond before I grow old. I am offerring a musical reward to anyone who can help or put me in the right direction to return the functionality I had up until Sept 24th. Thanks in advance. Mike Hobsonr

Me tooo!!
I've had the same error as you! I'm on OS 9.2.2, using entourage (office 2001 version). I've used this setup to get my mails from pop accounts, and hotmail accounts for several years, but since the the 24th, I haven't been able to get my hotmails either. I think you're right about the explanation also, since my isp states there has been no changes on their servers. So hotmail has made a change I guess.
Hope they will solve this problem in the near future! |
