Hi.
Just tried to install a D-Link DI-524 Router and a D-Link DWL-G630 Laptop
adapter, and am having problems.
:( I used to think I knew something about computers! :(
My router set up ok............... originally. Basically as soon as I hooked it up, I could connect to the internet (through Optimum Online). Did not have to use the Setup Wizard! Do I need to???????????
But after trying unsuccessfully to get the laptop card to work, I went back to the router, went through the Setup Wizard again, and this time clicked (as it told? me to) on 'Clone MAC Address', finished the set-up, and after this........... my browser does not connect to the internet anymore!

The laptop card install is another sad story. (Don't think D-Link setup books are very helpful!)
Tried card on 2 laptops. The first one (Win98) never got to point where it recognized the card as being plugged.
The 2nd laptop (WinXP), did get past that point, but don't know what I have to do to be able to get the internet connection.
Questions: 1) Do I have to set up an IP address on both my Router system and on the laptop?
2) Do I have to go through a process that sets up a network?
3) DO I need to use the Configuration Utility?
Note that one of the problems have/had with the laptops is that the automatic detect new hardware did not appear to be working. I ended up putting the Adapter card in the 2nd PC slot...........
Please help.
Thx.
Bob

See if any of this will help get IE working with the router.

I was having a bit of trouble with these two when I had XP Pro with sp1 but installed sp2 and ran the setup wireless networking thingy and it they are talking away to each over quite happily.

Dunno if that helps.
