I hope I'm not buttin' in here, but I come by here and read you guy's posts just about everyday. And I must say...you give me a laugh just about everytime....especially your stories....very, very creative, to say the least.
But to answer your guestion about backing up your ICQ list. Check this link out, they have lots of tips for ICQ. Basically what you have to do is go to; Program files>ICQ>data files. You just need to copy that unto a floppy. When you load your ICQ they will have you switch your database. Its all pretty much automatic. Hope I explained that alright, if not that link should help.

Thanks for that Tami, I have never looked at ICQ's own instructions page, and maybee that is why.
Irons, you may find the folder "db" does not exist in your 2000b version (last version that had it was 1999b)
Look for 2000b folder. (2000a folder in 2000a version).
You need to backup the "youricqnumber.dat" and "youricqnumber.idx" files as well as "youricqnumbertmp.dat" and "youricqnumbertmp.idx" files so do a find files if you can't find which directory they are in.
Incidentally, mine (after a couple of years on ICQ) were far to big to fit on a floppy (even when zipped).
My last major crash actually wiped out my backups on a seperate partition (I still don't have a cd-R!!)so now I'm back to a few weeks worth which total 346k.

Wow Smurfy, I had no idea that the 'db' folder didn't exist for the 2000b version. I'm still using 2000a and when I upgraded to it the 'db' folder was still there. And I had forgotten that it took 4 floppies to copy it all. Not too bad for using ICQ for 3 three years. But I also trimmed down my contact list after having to reformat twice..lol...as Mishy can attest to. This other link is even better for ICQ tips;
