Internet problems?

i havent yet been able to figure out the reasons behind my internet malfunctions, so that is why i come here.

basically the problem is that every once in a while, my internet cuts off completely, or slows down to less than 1kb/s, and it only lasts for 1-2 minutes. but it is very frustrating... because it is long enough to drop me from counter-strike or other games.. or it kicks me from msn.

i have basic dsl from sympatico, connected through a wireless router which is then connected to my computer. any reasons as to why my internet would just cut out? or would i be better off just going to sympatico?

Have you run any anti-spyware programs?

Have you run a full av scan with updated definitions?

Hello Genik,

If TJollys advice doesn't solve the issue, then try reinitializing the system by doing the following:

1) Shut down the computer and unplug the router and modem.
2) Plug the modem back in and give it 1 minute to configure. Then plug the router back in and restart the computer.

If that doesn't fix it, bypass the wireless to see if that is causing the problem....and if that doesn't do it, contact your ISP. They should be able to do a ping test to the modem and check your line levels.
