Someone correct me on this if I'm wrong, cause I'm no expert on this.

What is the modem make and model?

If you are using the Ethernet connection to the modem, how is your sisters computer connected to the modem?

If your sisters is connected via USB, I don't think you can use the Ethernet connection at the sametime as a USB connection.

You will either have to connect your computer to her computer and share a connection, or use a router.

lok sao let see... it goes like this

PC to Modem via USB - work ok?
modem had either net to pc not talking ?

is this corrdct up to now.?

what the ip address of the pc and the modem? so on your sisters computer go to start run cmd and type ipconfig and give me the ip address / submask and any other info. we need to know whast ip address of the modem is.

let say you get the following

ipconfig /all

192.168.0.2
255.255.255.0
192.168.0.1
192.168.0.1
213.173.1.119

that would say your sistems ip is 192.168.0.2 and your modem is 192.168.0.1 giving that then your modem is acting as a dhcp and should be broadcasting an ip address; "however not knowing the modem i can not be sure" but if you set your computer to the same setting but change the line 192.168.0.2 to 192.168.0.3 you should be able to ping to each other. again this may not work as your modem may not have a built in hum and the port your plugged into may need a cross over cable and you have a stright throught.. come back with any information you

make of modem
ip numbers
cable type

:erm: Xircom,

My take on it is the sisters PC, call it PC1, has a connection to modem via a ADSL cable plugged in.

bubble.ghost!! wants to connect his/her PC, call it PC2, to the modem by using the Ethernet plugin at the same time, so that puts

PC1 plugged into modem with a adsl cable
PC2 plugged into modem with a Ethernet cable

I still don't think you can use the Ethernet connection on the modem at the sametime as a ADSL connection like they are trying to do can they?

I think you either have to connect PC2 to PC1 and share a connection through PC1, or use a router. Correct or not correct?

Ok so this is a ADSL Modem with WAN Eithernet port and not a ADSL Router with Modem and hub built in. Then no it will not work they would need to connect the two computers via Network card in each and have one as shared internet connection. Sorry for Error; not reading it correctly.

swap the ADSL Modem for an ADSL Router that will work better.
