Links in Hotmail !

When using links contained in email the IE window opens and displays the following message:-

' Your email message has been idle and this link has become inactive. To access the link, Close this window and return to your message. Then click the Browser's Refresh Button or Close your Message and Reopen it. '

Tried following instructions but no good.

Had no problems up until a few days ago, can't think what I've done.
Any help would be appreciated.

Apparently it's a hotmail thing

Try refreshing the email/page or use SHIFT+Click to open the link.

Can you give us more information? Are you using hotmail? Does this happen as soon as you check your email? (or did you leave the message open for awhile?) You could try to make sure cookies are enabled.

Hotmail links are almost always dead ("idle") when I use hotmail. It's one of the many reasons I'm migrating away from hotmail. Another is that even when links work, the new windows open in a hotmail frame if there's no visible url to copy/paste into a new window. I use this little freeware program to get around it.

It's a pita but I "copy shortcut", paste it into this little program and the links are translated so they work as they're supposed to. Only hotmail makes me do this. As time goes on, I'm changing all my contacts to other mail addresses.

hotmail links usually opens in a new window. If you are using any type of popup stopper, then you need to press the ctrl key as you click on the link.

Yes I am using Hotmail. It happens as soon as I check my email. Cookies are enabled.

Pressing the control key while clicking the link makes no difference and pressing the shift key while clicking the link results in ' Page cannot be displayed '

ellis- If you have decided to stop using hotmail I would suggest gmail, googles email service currently still in the testing stages. It offers 1gigabyte of storage and other features. If you would like to try it tell me your email address and I'll send an invite to you (you currently can only sign up to gmail through invite). Please post your email address in a form like this: enat66 at gmail dot com not like username@domain.com
