I have a hp pavilion & my son has a compaq, both relatively new.
I decided to run them both on the same line, so I went to Best Buy and asked them what I needed. "Linksy's!" Well, anyway they sold me the router and also another box with a router?
Anyway, I tried to connect the router to my computer and it seems that I couldn't connect one of the lines into the tower. I am going absoluted nuts over here. I have tried for almost a month to get this set up and it just isn't working and I am not giving up.
Can anyone help me, I certainly would appreciate it.

Hi,
I just posted the question again and did reply with what Best Buy sold me. Hope this helps.
I started a new thread and someone was kind enough to tell me how to get to this original post.
Sorry for the delay!

Barbs,
I had big problems when I tried to set up my wireless network as well.
The best advice I can give you is to call the Linksys support line, and let them take you through the procedure step by step. Make them earn their pay, keep them on the line until you are completely up and running. Keep in mind that they can be wrong too, so if they say something like return defective part to store (as tech I talked to did - and he was wrong; restart fixed the problem), get a 2nd opinion from forum or whereever.
My Router + Adapter Card was D-Link, so I can't help you with your support tel number, but it should be in your literature.

Hi Bob & all who tried to help...
Bob, I took your advise and phoned Linksys support. I was on the phone for 45 minutes and went absoulutely nuts!
I got some person who was unable to speak English, at least not very well. From what I understood her saying, it actually is not that hard. However, I missed a lot of what she was saying due to the language barrier.
First time around with her,(I had to call back) I got a web site to go to for help. www.linksys.com/connect (http://www.linksys.com/connect). The site was good except for the fact after everything they told me to do, it came back with "your computer doesn't support this".
I am getting frustrated, but will figure it out.

Oops Barbs, didn't think of that possible problem of getting a help support person who had a problem with English. I was fortunate to get someone who appeared to be able to understand, and spoke English quite well. I have experienced the same frustration as you when calling support for other issues, other companys. I really think these companys are going to lose customers in the long run by outsourcing their support to foreign countries, but that is another conversation...........
If you have not resolved your problem, could you be more specific on what you mean by not being able to connect the Router to your computer tower.
