Hi,

Just the other day I felt some nostalgia and wanted to play the PC game, The Dig, on my Windows XP system. However, when I tried to play it, I got this error message:

Command Prompt-dig.exe
The video device failed to initalize for fullscreen mode. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.

<Close> <Ignore>

If I choose ignore, nothing happens so I pressed Close.

Is there any way to play old DOS games on Windows XP?

Right click on the game's executable (eg. dig.exe), go to Properties->Compatibility, tick "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select Windows 95. That's the closest you can get to MS-DOS emulation, if that doesn't work you'll need a dual boot, otherwise you can't play it.
