Why does XP have such a disliking for workproups. It used to be so easy to set up. Now they have bent everyone over and stuck them with a wizard. Easy there, wizard! I run in to this all the time and I still have no Idea why this happens. For explanation sake, I set up two XP computers with the same workgroup name, unique computer names, and and appropriate user accounts with full access rights for each computer. When I try to view the computers connected to the workgroup on either machine nothing appears. However, they appear as being part of the workgroup when using the net view command. What am I doing wrong?

What error message do you get when trying to access a Computer/Share?

The permissions error message, but all of the user accounts have full control over the shared resources. I also disabled the "limit logon without passwords to local machine" service in the group policy local security options so passwords would not be required for logon. Do I need to load the netbios protocol? I wouldn't think so.

Do you have any Firewalls?
Have you tried setting up same user accounts on each PC?
