I have been looking and looking and found usually hub/switch that allows connection up to 127 devices. However, I am not too sure if that only allows *one* PC connecting multiple USB devices. My case is that I have 2 PCs but only 1 scanner. I want it to be able to share between the 2 PCs. I found some USB switches but they are all manual. I wonder if anyone is using or know where I may obtain one at reasonable price that has an auto-switch feature.
I also got confused on up/down-stream ports...since I found 2 and they both have 1 up and 4 down stream ports but one (compusa) said one USB device can be shared by up to 4 PCs.
So I wonder if after all those USB hubs can be used in either way (ie. 1 PC with 4 USB devices or 1 USB device with 4 PCs). Please help!
Here are the links that I mentioned earlier:

Also the switch must be needed any software to be installed. Thanks a million for any help!!!
