Clicking Sound!!!

I'm not sure if I'm in the right department here, but I have my e-mail open all the time, while at the computer. Now whenever I recieve an e-mail, I hear a clicking sound (just one click) coming from the computer. Any ideas as to what could be causing this???

I'd also like to say that I had a theme running on the computer up until yesterday, and that did give me a "sound" reminder of any new mail coming in. I got rid of the theme, and that's when the clicking started, but it never did that before I installed the theme.

Dave, look in control Panel/Sound - find NewMailNotification on the list, see what sound file has been assigned.

Change it to any .wav file you want or assign no sound.

I used to have Homer Simpson's "the mail is here, The mail is here, OOOHHHHHHH!" as my new mail notification. Search the web for wav sites and you're bound to find good ones to use.

I would say this was caused by deletion of the theme, Windows has assigned a default sound event.

Thank you Smurfy, I was a bit concerned when I could actually hear the click coming from the computer itself, but check out the control panel, then hunt around for a sound file. The one I had with the theme was an English lady saying "you've got post"!!

I too hear a click like a relay opening and closing when ever i get mail from outlook express i think its coming from the sound card or my internal modem.
I have hunted and hunted to no avail so I cant prove where its really coming from so I gave up, because its not causing me any problems

Thanks Irons, I think you've just put my mind at rest with this, it just seemed odd and a little scary when it started doing it, especially as before I installed the theme, I hadn't got an e-mail sound, and hadn't heard the click before installing the theme! Now I gotta hunt around for a nice e-mail "new message" sound, got any idea's of where to look?????
