HELP! I recently downloaded Windows Media player 7 and hate it. I can't make Windows Media 6.4 version my default MPEG player for internet mpeg downloads. Simply removing mediaply7 did not help. Something has been changed in the registry or something. By the way, Media7 does not allow you to save an mpeg to your hard drive. You add it to a library and it lists it as a URL and you must be online and able to contact that site every time you want to play it...

Hello Sammycat68
Welcome to CTH
I dont know what windows your running but if your running 98SE right click on a mpeg holding the shift button down this will open a window asking what you want to do.look for open with then when you click on it theres a little box that says always open with make sure you check it then that will set what ever you want as your default player,I would think you want to open it with windows media player.
if your running ME just right click and the open with menu is already there.
