phone lines dead when its raining, but DSL works

ok been havng this problem off and on where when its raining out the phone lines are dead, but DSL is working, but sometimes get disconnected, i checked the phone box outside and opened it up and its dry inside of it, so i dont know what the deal is, anyone got any ideas ? i have heard the problem from others around here locally

what could the problem be ?

It's odd that the digital signal holds while the analog is down. It's probably something silly like an animal gnawed at some wires or someone digging cut a line without actually going all the way through it. Have you contacted the phone company a requested line tests for the area as opposed to just a line test for your home? They can be kind of b***hy about that, but if it is a problem affecting the area then they need to run a test on the switch and lines that services the whole area.

you need to contact your phone company. it may not be you, might be a switch down the road causing the problems.
