sims 2 choppy?

Hi, i just recently baught sims 2(which is an awsome game) and the game loads just fine but the gameplay(esspecialy the neighborhood view) is choppy even with not so good video settings

My Specs are:
Mother Board: P4pe with a pentium 4 and a 2.8 ghz proccessor
Memory:768 ddr ram
VideoCard: 128 Geforce FX 5200 AGP
the latest geforce driver from www.nvidia.com
100 gig harddrive
directx 9c
.......and thats about it
