Laptop wont read cd's but will read dvd's? please help

Hi,

First time using this forum so here goes. I have a toshiba laptop and lately it will read and play dvd's but when i insert a cd it wont read it. nothing happens but when you double click on the cd rom icon it opens up the cd and it appears as if there are no files on the cd. Any suggestions please

Are these cd's you got from the store or did you burn them yourself? Also are they just cdrw or are they cdr "if you burned them"?

I have the same problem :upset: And all my CD's have been purchased from the store, maybe its because of copywrite issues....

There maybe MANY issues with this? I hope this is of some help??
