The title pretty much explains this. My computer randomly crashes or freezes only when i'm playing games though. After the crash a windows error report says there was a hardware failure in the central processing unit (that doesn't sound too good at all). I thought the tower was over heating so I cleaned it out but it still keeps happening :( It's never done this before, it just started doing all this out of nowhere. I really hope you all can help.

tell more about your computer, cpu, ram, harddrive size/space available, and operating system? What games? Did you try playing the games with the cover off?

processor: AMD Athlon XP +3000
RAM: 1024GB
Sound Card: eh...SB Audigy c400 I think
Vid Card: GeForce4 Ti 4600<<<Im thinking my graphics card may be too old
Hard drive: 120GB- 112GB free (lol i just got done formating my hard drive)
OS- Windows XP Home Edition
The games I tried playing were Day Of Defeat (Half-Life mod), WC3: Frozen Throne, The Sims2, and Sim City4.
When I thought overheating was involved I opened the cover slightly but I can't open it too far cause my intake fan is connected.

OK, while your graphix card isn't the latest-greatest, I don't think it's so obsolete that it's the culprit. I mean, The Sims2 isn't exactly Doom3 in terms of graphix, is it? What OS are you running?
