i am in awe. my iBook HD crashed in July, the gnarly 'click of death' haunted my life.

2 months after operating off my external HD, the internal HD decided to rise from the dead. now its kind of functional, basically totally, except that it wont recognize my USB MIDI keyboard anymore. very IRRITATING.

i purchased a new HD for the iBook, and as soon i can find out where to buy Apple hexagonal screwdrivers (ANYBODY ???) i'm swappin./

ever happen to you? how come my OSX wont recognize USB keyboard? is it possible the HD aint talkin to my CDR and soundcard & stuff?

se ya soon - Nerd Brain

i didnt know that apple made special hexagonal screws, i thought those were called torx. anyway if worst comes to worst you could get one custom made somewhere.

yah thats right Torx.

my question is - can the disc 'die' like that? and them come back to life?

is there another internal component that coulld have burned out ?

Just keep if mind to take it easy on the screws, since they tend to strip easily.
