moniter is in different colors

Hi all i need a quick fix to a problem (sorry to not follow rules). Well the moniter is blinking different colors red blue black white and they are rough....it started by leaveing the computer running all day then accessing it later on. The program that was accessed was AIM. The away message was taken off and then it bsod then continued to blink the different colors no warning message or anything. Hard boot was tried but nothing would happen it would start back up in the same blinking colors. moniter cable was unpluged and plugged back in but same thing.

running a XP os, Dial up, aim and aol. sony viao(sp)

this is what happen to a friends pc just so you know its second hand information. I myself think it may be something may have fried from the heat in the case and now it will not start up in the os cause of this. But thats what i think.

just wondering if there was anyway to help me and my friend on this.

I'm sorry maybe I cannot understand ...
but I'll to help(ing) u ...
okay ... did u've change the monitor with the another monitor, or tested the monitor with other PC?
if u've tested the monitor and the result is --> still in different colors
maybe u'r IC (or else) monitor has broken, if there's ... u must repaire/service u'r monitor.

check all cables and make sure they are securely plugged in also try opening the case and blow out all the dust.
