keybord not typing the right letters

I am using Windows XP pro on my Compaq laptop and when I finally got my wireless working the keyboard suddenly started doing weird things.
It seems like the whole right side is messed up.
It still types, just the wrong letters/numbers.
I went through the Microsoft help section and tried updating, unistalling and reinstalling the driver but it is still not working.
I'm pretty new to computers so I'm at a loss as to what to try next....any help would be appreciated.

Could it be something to do with the language settings? I had a problem with my keyboard and the language wasn't set right:dizzy:, could try that out............

I appreciate your suggestions.
But because I am new to computer land I'm not sure I know how to even check my language settings.
Could you be more specific, maybe give some step by step instructions.

I jut wanted to post again on this issue in case someone else had the same problem.
My numlock key was stuck. So even though I thought I had turned it off I hadn't.
Now honestly aside from hitting the Fn and numlock key several times and rebooting and do that again, I'm not sure why it suddenly unlocked, but it did and I can once again type letters instead of numbers.
