Which OS??

I am purchasing an AMD 1800, 256 DDR RAM on a Supermicro MB along with a Quantum HD 40 Gig,,,, all for a member of the family. He will be using the internet for gaming(cable modem) word pro.and GAMES. We have been given a choice of OS; Win 98SE, Win ME or
Win XP home.
Your advice would be appreciated.

I can't speak for XP, but I find that 98SE is more gamer-friendly than ME. However, ME isn't that bad for gaming either.

Boy you sure have to read between the lines on that thread. It would seem that Win 98SE and Win ME get the vote. I have been using Win ME for over a year now and after turning off all the automated stuff and "goback" it is behaving rather well. The only thing I miss is good old SFC.
My neighbour loaded XP and it cured ALL his DSL problems from the getgo. No problems loading it either.
Will search some more, but I am leaning to Win 98SE.
