Hi, I've got an IMac that is faulty and won't complete the start up sequence.
Model CR-175-0 Manufactured Apr 99.
On the logic board it has SO-DIMM memory and by the video connector there is a small SO-DIMM card with a big M followed by,
MTHLG51264KHG-83, I think that’s the video card.
On start up there is a chime and then it sounds as though it starts to access the HD and then turns off.
I have taken this item as a project as I’m used to working on PC’s.
Help and suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi,

It sounds to me like there is either no OS on the HD or the HD is faulty.

You could try putting Mac OS ?? CD 1 into the iMac and hold down the C key while it boots, this assumes that you got some discs with it, if not you could try getting an OS from ebay or an apple shop.

HTH.

Jim.

If I can find an apple repair store nearby I'll take both SO-DIMM cards out and get them tested and figure out how to take the AC adaptor out and get that tested also. Below the CD-ROM is a Western Digital HD which was probably put in 1999.
