Hi,
I'm running Windows 98se on a dell desktop. Having reformatted the hard drive I'm without any drivers - video, monitor, modem, graphics etc etc. I have the Dell resource disc with the drivers on it, and can 'see' them in the drivers list but there's no guidance as to how they should be reinstalled onto the machine.
Can someone let me know how & where I should be putting them?
Thanks!

Go to your "control panel, add new hardware and it'll look for your devices and then should prompt you for the resource disk. Give it the disk and all should be well.

Insert the Resource CD with Windows running.
On the first screen in the left-hand pane, make sure the correct System Model and Operating System are showing in the first two fields, then in the Device Type list, choose "System" and in the last field, choose Drivers.
System drivers should appear in the right-hand pane, click on it.
Usually (Dell keeps changing the layout of these things), if you scroll down to the bottom of the page that opens, there will be an install or extract button to click on. Also, there are usually directions telling you what to do next.
Once the system drivers are installed, repeat the process for the rest of the hardware.
I'm sorry this is a little vague, I'm working from memory here. :)

Miz,
thanks for your advice.... I managed to get some of the drivers in, but some of them had no .exe extensions which put paid to them! Despite having got graphics, monitor & modem drivers off the web or on original cd they still won't install (monitor - syncmaster 172T) or respond properly after installation.
So for example, my monitor will only work in 16 colors @ 640x480 which means a lot of other driver cds won't install 'cos they aren't supported at that low specification! it's turning into a viscous circle...! I've run Everest software and can see all the hardware/internal stuff like the modem, but they just don't want to respond. Any other suggestions as to what I may or may not have done/should do post re-install?
Cheers!
