Unhappy Basic settings

Hi again,

Can someone tell me what the basic settings must be to view secure internet sites? Where should I look for them to make sure they have not been changed by some virus or spyware? When trying to enter a secure site the normal page comes up with the normal 'can't be found' but it only does this for the mentioned sites (ebay sign in, bank, etc).

Look forward to hearing from anyone that has even the smallest bit of advice to give as I dont know what to do next.

Katieve

System security

to check for basic security of your internet useage goto start/settings/control panel/internet options/security.Check your settings there. If you have never changed them before and don't know what they would do if changed set all the settings to default to be on the safe side and see if that helps. And if it is still doing the samething you can go and download Hyjackthis from here and run the program and copy and paste the results back here and see if someone can find and thing that needs cleaning up.But if you do not know what you are doing DO NOT remove anything yourself.

Smile

Yep, I've done that. Apparently it seems ok, nothing untoward. I'm just curious to know why I cannot enter any sites that require (I think!) encryption. The little padlock icon will not appear anymore along with the sites! What could have affected this and can I fix/restore the problem?

Regards, Katieve
