Startup Problem

I have a P-3,256MB RAM,20GB HDD,WIN-98SE PC.When I ON my PC, after windows is loaded it get restarted again & scandisk is also do it's action as in case of after illegal shutdown.I have also scan my system using my Antivirus but it don't show any trace of virus.Is this a Hardware or Software problem.This problem particularly happened Once in a Day i.e when i starting my PC first time in a day. Please give the solution for this problem.

Sounds like an SE shutdown prob but I'm not sure if that's the case if you boot all the way to Windows before it kicks out and scandisks.
Have you run the standard spybot, adaware, updated virus scanner, etc.
You could try removing the startup list checks in msconfig and see if that makes a diff. These computers are strange beasts indeed.
