PGP

VeriSign(TM) Digital ID(SM)

Or you can just do what I do. I spell so bad noone can decipher my writeings.

Are these products that you use? Can you provide some insight? Do you care that information about you and your *condition* floats unsecure through cyberspace?

Edit: Harrie you may find this of intrest .

That PGP looks really good, only I have to admit it scares me a little! I think that's because I don't understand all that too well. I called them, but they are closed for the holidays. I do better asking a person questions, hehe!! But look, while I wait over the weekend to give them a call, can I ask two questions?

I read the part about "only the intended recipient of a message can read it." Does that mean it looks like gobbledegook to anyone else, but you have it set up so that it's all readable for them? (What I'm thinking about is the receiver who doesn't want to do anything themselves). Would it encrypt a document sent as an attachment, too?

Secondly, I see you can use it even if the recipient doesn't have it by this paragraph:

(quote)
You may now encrypt files or folders into Self-Decrypting Archives (SDAs) that can be used by users who do not even have PGP. The archives are completely independent of any application, compressed and protected by PGP's strong cryptography. (end quote)

But again, is the recipient required to do anything? I read a lot of it and I'll look at it more, I'm just a little confused on this. I want to know if basically, your mail is turned into greek but YOU set it up for who you don't want it to be greek for?

Sorry to be so dense, I swear! But, thanks....and yes, that last one is of great interest to me and just makes me want this particular encryption package more, if I could only understand it!

Just thought I'd say that after calling, I've found out that the receiver would also have to have downloaded PGP. I was told it was very simple. I just have to look at it some more because I'm scared of downloading stuff sometimes! Afraid it may cause other problems. I'll sort it out!
