This has just recently started happening again to me! I've had my computer
pluged up to an extension cord since it happened 4 or 5 months ago because
I thought that the outlet the AC was pluged into was currupted. It turns out
that that was not the case, obviously. I was searching Microsofts site for
help on this problem earlyer - NOTHING! I actually could not even find a
general TroubleShooter to help me with Win98.
So anyway...PLEASE HELP before an unnamed certain evil entity trys to
do this to my very senitive computor again! It could auto restart at anytime
again! Help!!!

Hi, men. Create a new user and look, what happens. If it continues restarting, try to uninstall some software. And if nothing helps, reinstall windows :)

Had the same problem once with mine. Turned out the system was overheating. Fixed it by cleaning my tower and the fan. Haven't had the problem since.

Computers will auto-restart when you are just about to save a lot of important data ...
Unplug the PC open up the case and check for lot's of dust around or under the Processor Fan. Also see what wattage your Power Supply is. If you have added another HD or CD player. You should have a 400Watt supply.
Plug in your PC, Start it and see if your processor fan is turning. You should not be able to see the blades.
No no.... don't stick your finger in the blades to test it.
Oh ... and make sure your extention cord is grounded.
Let us know how you make out

I swapped out the power supply to fix my problem and have not had the reboot since.
Nyaxia: that is a really good PC info program ... the very best I have seen yet! It's going onto all our PC's.
The mainboard on our PC in question has no temperature sensors thus no report from Everest.
All is well now on mine
