DirectX 9.0C

I'm having problems with Sims2 and Direct X (hmmm what a surprise, I don't think I am the only one...)

I have installed Sims no problems, when I try and run it I get the message:

"Failed to find any DirectX 9.0C compatible graphics adapter in this system! Please make sue you have directX 9.0C compatible graphics adapter and have installed the latest drivers provided by the manufacturer. This application will now terminate."

Slight problem in the fact I am absoloutly rubbish with computers and don't have a clue what to do. :dizzy:

Any help, just a translation would be nice in "stupid non computer people" terms would be a great help.

Ha ha I bet you must be sick of people like me who can hardly turn a computer on (okay, I'm not that bad...really, honestly...)
