My mouse just started to lag. It won't stay on smaller things to click on, it won't go to the things I want it to click on, and it jerks around. I have deleted unnecessary programs, and tried a defrag to see if that would make it work. It just started doing this today. I tried restarting and it doesn't work, the mouse still lags. Can someone please help me fix this problem, it is extremly annoying and I can't live with it any longer!

If it's a mechanical mouse, not an optical, it may be that it just needs cleaning.
Turn it over and if there's a small ball on the bottom, it's a mechanical mouse. Turn the disk to unlatch it, take the disk and ball out and clean all the gunk off the two small rollers inside. If the ball itself is grungy, clean it off, too. Put it back together and see if things improve.
If it's an optical mouse...has a red light on the bottom...check the mouse pad. If it's been worn shiny or it it has developed high contrast areas, the laser might be getting confused. Check the bottom of the mouse and clean off any gunk that may have collected.
Finally, if none of that applies, right click on My Computer, go to Properties then to the Performance tab, click on the Graphics button.
Adjust the slider down a notch, click OK. See if things improve.
