Can't run Program.exe PLEASE HELP

I hate this... I'm trying to fix 3-4 different computers today, and none of it is for pay. It can get to be a bit much when everyone relies on you. Which is why I've come to rely on Cybertechhelp forums. I couldn't survive without you... but enough of the crying... I need help. Please... with a winzip that will allow me to open program.exe files. Thanx

Hi sentee, can you give us some more information please. Full error message etc. WinXP unzips most archived files automatically (doubleclick on the zipped archive will do the trick) but I have a feeling this is not your problem.

I am running Win98 on this PC. (I am trying to restore a WinXP PC also) This is not a new problem. I just wanted to open certain file types. And a box comes up saying it can't find 'progream.ece' Would this file be on the Master Restore CD or on the Packard Bell Library Diagnostice CD, or where might I find the file to open and run 'Program Exe', and other files that ask... Open with what? Thanksin advance!

First of all, for a good Zip program I recomend Justzipit (http://free-backup-software.net/download.htm)

But, that isn't your problem. You are missing some files. Can you get online with that computer? If not then do you have an AV you can install on there?

You may want to download Hijackthis (http://www.cybertechhelp.com/download.php?hijackthis1977.zip) and post a log here for someone to take a look at. You may be infected with a Virus that is causing your problem.

Hi imma tell you a more detailed problem with the pc. Im sentee's son and it's my computer that is messed up. I need the windows file that enables you to open all .exe files. I guess a virus disabled me from opening any exe files. So that means i cant download hijackthis and run it cause its a exe file. All my exe files on the system is now .lnk files. Can you please help me?

Ah, ok this in Win98 right? (I'll transfer the thread to the Win98 Forum). Go here (http://home.earthlink.net/~rmbox/Reticulated/Only_IE.html) and download and run EXEFix08.com. Reboot afterwards and let us know if you can now run your programs. Also post a Hijack This log as Dodge suggested.

First of all thanks for that link for JUSTZIPIT. It works extremely fast, I can't thank you enough.

Secondly... the Windows XP problem is my son's... He got confused and was not aware I was seeking help for my own Win98 PC. He is still having a difficult time... and I will remind him to post in the WinXP or Cybersafety forums. He's a newbie, and I will give him an update.

Hi sentee, I am trying to help your son in the Cyber Safety Forum but we are not making much progress. I hope he didnt run EXEFix08.com on his PC, that's only for Windows 98/ME.
