I need help please. I am a videography educator who uses a G3 iBook to edit video using FinalCut Express. While I was Erase and Install OS X the iBook whent ot a screen that displayed a circle with a left slash in the middle of it and the swirling clockwise dot shown underneath. I have no control over the laptop at all.

It all startedwhen I inserted the OS X Install Disc 1 and it was going along like it was suppose to after the "time laps bar" filled in the iBook screen went black then the Apple icon appeared the swirling dot appeared next then
nothing.

I am in the middle of a project that is two and a half hours long and I can't finish.
Help!

Are you using a retail version of the OSX install or are you using a disk that shipped with another computer and trying to install that on your laptop?

What you are describing is a symptom trying to install OSX from disks that shipped with another computer. Those disks are not interchangeable between systems. Only the retail version of OSX can be used to install on any Macintosh with built in USB support.

Thanks for your reply.
The OS X install disc came with
the iBook and I had no problems in
the past. I did go to an Install party
with a member of MacNexus. Bill Davies
inserted his copy of OS X into the iBook
and held down the C key until something
happened and it started right up.
Again thanks
