Hi Amanda

Go her and do a search for the latest driver:

It might help if you could list the actual devices in Device Manager that have the exclamation marks by them.

Also, if the printer was working when connected using a parallel cable, you might try re-connecting it using that.

the device with the exclamation mark just says USB PRINTER

tried reconnecting with the cable but think the connection at back of comp is broken as have used printer on another computer with th ecable connection and it worked fine

I would uninstall the lot - software from the Start Menu, printer from the Printers folder, USB Printer from Device manager, and then go through the install procedure outlined with the manual. USB printer installs are very picky about order. Is the Install disk for the printer available?

See ftp://ftp.epson-europe.com/pub/download/9/epson912eu.pdf

You might also need to update the USB chipset driver.

You might also make sure that the parallel port shows up in Device Manager without any errors. Errors there could prevent the printer from working on that port.
